TRI Ambiental do Brasil Ltda, TRI-Brazil, is the South American office of TRI Environmental, Inc. TRI-Brazil is a third-party, independent, geosynthetic company, with no affiliation to other companies in the geosynthetic market, providing laboratory and field testing, consulting and research to the international geosynthetic community. TRI provides services with neutrality to landfill owners/operators, mining companies, regulators, manufacturers, engineering companies, contractors and installers.

Testing, Research & Reporting

Through our engineer and Director of Brazilian Operations, Julio Ferreira, TRI-Brazil can better support our South American clients being able to communicate with clients in Portuguese and Spanish. For laboratory testing services, TRI-Brazil provides quotations and technical advice, and clients ship the geosynthetic samples directly to TRI’s laboratories in the U.S. depending on clients’ needs and choice of laboratory (headquarters in Austin, Texas; Anaheim, California and Anderson, South Carolina). TRI-Brazil manages the projects, report deliveries and invoicing. Brazilian clients do transactions locally in Brazilian Reais (R$) as they would do with any domestic transaction with Brazilian companies.

Support Services

TRI-Brazil also provides the following field services with local staff: Liner Integrity Services with Electrical Leak Location in Geomembranes and Construction Quality Assurance (CQA). Moreover, TRI-Brazil is able to offer consulting in multiple languages (Portuguese, Spanish and English) to write purchase/conformance specifications – Manufacturing Quality Control/Assurance (MQC/MQA), and Construction Quality Control/Assurance (CQC/CQA) specifications for geosynthetics.

In partnership with Geosynthetica Brazil (, TRI and Geosynthetica organize workshops for quality installation of polyethylene geomembranes to qualify installers and engineers from companies that hire installation services with theoretical and hands-on sessions in two full days of course work. The workshop is followed by IAGI polyethylene welding technician certification exam.

Expert Staff

TRI’s personnel are active throughout the world’s standards development organizations and routinely provide short courses, seminars, and tailor-made training services for geosynthetics professional development. In order to serve our clients, we believe in and support the notion that staff must be active in the development and support of best practices throughout the industries we serve. Service to the various standards bodies, associations, and institutes that support these industries is central to our culture of expertise.

Our team participates actively in the Geosynthetic Special Study Group CEE-175 of ABNT (Brazilian Association of Technical Standards), the Recommendation Work Group of the Brazilian Chapter of IGS, ASTM International’s Committee D35 on Geosynthetics and D18 on Soil and Rock. We are also active with ISO TC 221, the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS), the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI), the Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI), the International Glove Association, and the Geo-Institute of ASCE.
